Hecho en Mexico

How could your original list of favorites not include "Hecho en Mexico"?

Always a favorite with locals and tourists alike, Hecho has the ambiance one expects to find in San Miguel. Dine indoors or out in the charming patio. The menu has something for everyone's appetite and budget, not to mention some of the most delicious and beautifully presented meals anywhere in town.

The desserts are to die for...absolutely the best in San Miguel and maybe in all of Mexico! (Actually, one of their brownies drizzled with chocolate and caramel sauce and topped with vanilla ice cream can put four adults under the table)! And let's not even talk about the peanut butter pie! Try either of these desserts and you'll be hooked for life!

Located on Ancha de San Antonio, Hecho en Mexico is practically next door to the famous "Instituto Allende".

Hecho en Mexico is one of the most consistently good places to dine in San Miguel. The only negative is their margaritas--too sweet.

The service is - at all times - A-1; the food is excellent; the atmosphere is romantic - or business meeting friendly-or cozy lunch bunch.

Even though the patio is heavenly, I have found that the inside dining room is also comfy and warmer on cool days.

If one is in a hurry, the 4 tables in the bar are perfect and quiet and well served.

There is a reason why Hecho continues to be the "go to place" for comfort food and charming atmosphere and wait staff.

Donna's Note: I agree about the coziness of the inside spaces on these cool winter days. But for those who want to stay outside, the patio has some of those big tower-type space heaters--pretty effective.

You're so right about "Hecho." It IS one of my favorite restaurants in San Miguel de Allende. It's only missing from the favorits page because I haven't got to it yet!

"Hecho en Mexico" is an especially great place to meet friends. Since it's practically next door to the Insitutio Allende, it's easy even for newcomers to find and a short walk from the Jardin.

I'm in love with their enormous salads... if I can keep myself from ordering the coconut shrimp. And the seared Ahi with a sesame seed coating, served with ginger and wasabi, can literally take your breath away.

I'll be adding them to my favorites soon. Thanks for the reminder.
