San Miguel is the most fascinating Mexican town ever!

by Sylvia Rivera Vargas
(River Edge, New Jersey, USA)

I lived in Mexico City during the years 1991 and 1992, and I visited San Miguel on three occasions.

I fell in love with the place the first time I visited. I love:
* the artistic ambiance
* the boutiques
* the closed patios
* the restaurants
* the hostels

In other words, I love everything about it.

I would love to live there, but as a widow, I don't know how safe it would be in 2008. However, it's certainly something to think about.

Donna's Note: San Miguel is one of the safest towns in Mexico, certainly safer than many US cities. I have never once been nervous about walking the streets of the centro or even many of the outlying areas at all hours. Of course, you want to use common sense anywhere you travel or live, but San Miguel will give you very little cause for worry or fear.
